From the darkling throng to the glittering court, this is a world of magic and delights, greed and grotesque ambitions. Awake, his face was handsome, bordering on pretty; asleep, he had the face of an angelic child. I did finished the second book and I really really want to like it or rate it with 5 stars. Hamilton is the New York Times bestselling author of the first novel starring Meredith Gentry, A Kiss of Shadows, and nine acclaimed Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novels. She loved Frost as well as Galen but it seemed like Doyle was the one that proper for a king. So now the men of my royal guard— frightening warriors skilled with blade, spell, and gun—have become my lovers, auditioning with pleasure for the role of future king and father of my child.
Good versus evil is alive and well with a side of magic and erotica thrown in. My only problem with the book was that even at 448 pages it was too short. Adult content but all lots of fun. So Meredith is having sex with all sorts of people. Now, leaning on my windowsill with the smell of the Pacific Ocean on the air, I looked down at the two men and knew I was home. Most writers save Emma Bull , tend to stick closely with the typical Celtic-looking faerie folk. I love Merry and the storyline. She is guarded by a bunch of other elementals, all male and all of them possessed of six-inch. I don't usually like books about the fey as the ones I've read in the past have been so disappointing but this series has totally changed my mind, it's just really fun, easy reading urban fantasy. I guess the main deal for people must be the fact that she is in relationships with sever While this wasn't quite as good as the first book, I still enjoyed it. Anita's story is more about trying to keep true to herself, but there's so much torment in her life that it's very hard to do.
I dropped the shields and looked with that part of the brain that sees visions and allows you to see dreams. By age 17 I was collecting my first rejection slips for my stories. What happens if you are assassinated by Cel's people and the Queen is forced to execute Cel for his treachery? When things are intense, I find myself skipping parts of paragraphs or jumping ahead and going back because it becomes a bit tedious. I really don't get why people write about these books as though they are porn. So now, while I enjoy the greatest pleasures of my life with my guardians, I must fend off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality.
It gave me hope that not everyone that wrote this was a dead white guy. She's a pretty decent character and the land of Faerie is pretty interesting. The final scene of the books left me wondering, what's next??!! What I am actually doing is reading one of these horrible books and eating pretzels, periodically cajoling Mark into bringing me drinks. I hadn't been exiled; I'd fled, because I couldn't survive the assassination attempts. . I looked at them, each in turn.
Merry is not the only fun- and dimension-lovin' female in the book's cast, although she's the only one whose fun is described in gratuitous detail. I also don't like Fae books in general. From his upper shoulders down his back across his buttocks flowing over his thighs to touch the backs of his knees was a play of color: buff brown, yellow tans, circles of blue and pink and black like eyespots on the wings of a moth. Qualcosa però sta per accadere, quando accetta un incarico e si ritroverà ancora una volta nei giochi di potere della Corte, anche se questa volta si è aggiunta la Corte Seelie, a cui dove è legata da parte della madre. In the first book I thought it was the endless descriptions that were slowing things down. It was a little too convenient, too easy for such an impossible to kill being. But the intrigue gets interesting in book 2, as the lead character, Meredith Gentry, gets more power and becomes even more politically savvy. I love the way that the characters develop in this series almost as much as I love the story line itself. So now, while she enjoys the greatest pleasures of her life attempting to conceive a baby with the warriors of her royal guard, she must fend off an ancient evil that could destroy the very fabric of reality. This particular edition is in a Hardcover format. Both books would be important influences for me. Comunque Meredith è in lizza assieme a suo cugino Cel, un mezzo psicopatico sadico, e Bene, sono molto contenta di poter tornare a parlarvi della mia autrice preferita, e in particolare del secondo libro della serie di Meredith Gentry! The face did, and did not, match the body. The dynamic between Frost, Doyle and Rhys yes, Rhys gets a much bigger part in this book - thank you! Merry isn't out to save the world, just her corner of it, and herself if she can and she wants to have a lot of kinky sex with her sexy, immortal guards while she does it.
As always, Laurell Hamilton writes dark fantasy like no other. So the Queen placed Prince Cel and Princess Meredith on equal footing. It is easy to get a good mental image on all of the amazing fae creatures that are described in the books. If the original had one car chase, then having two car chases will make it twice as popular. But I did, and I'm glad I did. Not that this will stop me from picking up the next one when it comes out.
Though I will certainly be waiting on the mass market paperback, and might even look for a used copy. I do want to see where this goes. Merry has to negotiate with the demi-fey, a number of members from the Seelie Court as well as her aunt. While the political machinations were tedious this time around, I am still impressed with how unique and varied they are. We go from endless plotting and diplomatic exchanges most of them, not coincidentally, in the bedroom to wham! Merry and Doyle finally get their freak on--and fade-to-black. And they must still protect me from assasination attempts - for unlike most fey, I am part human, and very mortal.
As long as we both live, we are in a race for the crown: Whichever one of us reproduces first gets the throne. It will be interesting to meet some of the new guard and see how they react with the current ones. But good God, things can get tedious. I love the culture of fae that Hamilton has created. What else mysterious Looms out there to kill the Fae? The race to the throne will be decided by who produces an heir first. May need free signup required to download or reading online book.
